The UK property market was too expensive for Paul Mappley and Yip Ward (this is me trying and failing not to focus on the name Yip). So naturally THEY BOUGH AN ENTIRE VILLAGE IN FRANCE. For only $14,000. It includes 6 cottages, 2 barns and a paddock, a two-story workshop, cider press, and communal bread oven. The catch is that there's no electricity. But for some people, that could be part of the appeal.
So just know, if all else fails, we can just go buy a village in France and be off-grid. But you gotta do all the maintenance. I'm not doing that.
