In what is almost definitely a completely un-biased survey conducted by Monster Energy, most Americans say they're more exhausted than they've ever been in their lives.
Yeah, no kidding. The US has been behind most every other first world country as far as adequate vacation days, child care, work week length, etc. All of those problems became unignorably apparent once the pandemic hit.
We were forced to put our lives on hold, which meant reconnecting with ourselves and what we really want out of life. Then we thought we would get back to normal again
and again
and again
and again
and it still hasn't really happened. Because it can't. There are supply chain shortages, labor shortages, not to mention CEOs making millions in bonuses while laying off the workers who helped the company get through the past couple years.
Everything is right in front of our faces now. So not only are we more unhappy with what would have been considered "normal" pre-pandemic, we're also trying to adjust to an ever-changing pandemic environment. Video conferences, varying rules and mandates, the weird work from home options that seem to only result in feeling as if you're NEVER separated from work.
Yeah dude. We're tired.
And on a completely unrelated note, did you know most European countries have required paid vacation for employees? ALL employees. The minimum for most of these countries is 20. 20 paid vacation days. For everyone. Spain gets 30. The UK gets 28.
The US has absolutely no legally required paid vacation.
It's cool, though, they might federally legalize weed one day.
