How Certain Bands Got Their Names

Ever wonder where and how bands got their names?

Well, you're in luck! LoudWire gave us a whole rundown on some of the most iconic names in the industry.

Ranging from Black Sabbath to Dream Theatre, all of these names have meaning.

Foo Fighters very own, Dave Grohl went the historical route to seek some inspiration. Grohl wanted to make it clear he was in a band, not just a one man act. With that, he took the WWII coined term 'Foo Fighter', which meant UFO at the time, and created a whole different meaning to the term.

Green Day discovered the members had a mutual liking for marijuana, and took a Bay Area slang term that describes a whole day of smoking weed. There and then, the name 'Green Day' became the name of their group.
