Happy Birthday to Alex Van Halen! I can't believe the Van Halen drummer turns 70 today! When I was a kid, I tried to build a drum kit like Alex's. He would put a second bass drum in front of the bass drum he would play. I tried that, although I'm sure I wasn't doing it right... but it looked cool. And he had all of those octobons! Happy to play Tyler in Mokena's request for "Hot For Teacher".
Just as I was playing Sum 41's "Fat Lip" on the anniversary of the release of All Killer, No Filler, the band announced that they are calling it a day :(. I always loved their video for "Fat Lip" put together with "Pain For Pleasure". They nail being an 80s metal band. Here it is if you've never seen it!
