The Setlist - 4.5.23

This has to be the one day of the year with the most impactful deaths in rock. Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley and Marshall amp creator Jim Marshall all passed away on April 5th.

I can still remember where I was when I heard the news about Kurt Cobain passing away in 1994. Stabbing Westward was on tour in Tuscan Arizona. We had the day off so we were at a motel, with MTV on in the background when Kurt Loder broke in with the news. We were shocked. One of the biggest rock stars of the time. We played the University of Arizona Spring Fling the next day and there was definitely a sober vibe.

Tyler in Mokena wanted to remember Layne Staley with Alice In Chain's "No Excuses". Kurt's fellow Seattle musician Layne Staley would pass away on the same day 8 years later in 2002. We can't forget Layne on this day!

Keith in Sandwich is celebrating his birthday today and all he's used to hearing is people talk about Kurt's death. So he texted in asking for Disturbed's "The Sound of Silence" in memory of his dad. Happy Birthday Keith.

Keith at A&R Automotive took time from working on Klinger's car to request Shinedown's "Monsters". Bob called in and wanted to move Wednesday into a higher gear requesting Motorhead's "Ace of Spades".

Great Setlist for a Wednesday!
