When was the last time you went to a live show? It's probably been 7 or 8 months. That's how long it's been since our friends at our favorite music venues have been struggling to stay a float when they can't open and bands aren't touring. The honest truth is, there's a strong chance not every venue will make it. Some may not re-open. Start to imagine new apartment buildings popping up where you once listened to great live music. Venues aren't giving up without a fight, and there are plenty of bands and artists stepping up to help.
This weekend, bands like Foo Fighters and Chicago's Rise Against will be a part of #SOSFEST. Bands all over the country will be taking part in a livestreaming festival, trying to raise money for NIVA (National Independent Venue Association). The Foos will be playing Friday and Rise Against will perform, from the Metro, on Saturday.
Set a reminder, tune in to the dedicated YouTube channel and help in whatever way you can. Music is important to all of us, these venues are vital to deliver it to us!
