Talk about a close call. Lenny Kravitz grew up in LA and was friends with Kennedy Gordy, who's father Berry was the founder of Motown Records. Kennedy had written a song he thought was a hit and would be perfect for his friend to sing. Lenny gave it a listen, thought it was good but was not a good fit for the musician he wanted to be. So he passed.
The song was "Somebody's Watching Me" which ultimately was sung by Rockwell. It was a massive hit and was even used in a Geico campaign. But everything worked out for Lenny. I mean, he was in The Hunger Games!
