The LMI Group found what they believe to be an undiscovered portrait by Vincent Van Gogh. They found the painting for $50 at a garage sale in Minnesota. They believe that the painting could be worth millions.
The painting called 'Elimar' was named for the name written on the bottom corner. It depicts a fisherman smoking a pipe whilst repairing his net.
In an attempt to prove the painting is a true Van Gogh, the LMI Group analyzed the DNA in a piece of hair found in the paint. They compared it with distant relatives of his. Unfortunately, the hair was too degraded and was only able to confirm it was from a human male.
The painting will need to be analyzed by the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in order for it to be truly attributed to Van Gogh.
