Mayor Lightfoot is continuing to move forward with Chicago Park District plans to have our lakefront open this spring and summer. That sound heard this week was all of us breathing a sigh of not just relief, but also a general feeling of "hell to the yes!"
Last summer we had some limited ability to enjoy the lake, but with large groups of people at that point still coming together for unsafe outings, she shut it down completely to save lives.
But thankfully, it looks like we've learned a few things over the past months!
“My expectation and hope is that people will continue to do the good hard work that is necessary to protect themselves, their family members, and neighbors and understand that the lake is a very important and precious resource that we have,” she said.
Here's to hoping for a safe and happy Summer 2021 at our lakefront...and maybe some outdoor music too...??
