Ah... My beautiful sexy 1979 black Corvette.
This excellent car was a barn find of epic proportions. Whomever owned it before me went to the trouble to do several performance upgrades... and then parked it... for almost 40 years!
When I picked it up it only had 12,000 original miles on it. It was like stepping into a time machine. Unfortunately, machines don't like to sit, and it wasn't long before these original parts began to show their need for replacing. The first thing I did was replace the entire brake system, rotors, pads, calipers, master cylinder, and the copper brake lines. Bleeding the brakes on a 79 Corvette SUCKS!!! It took me like 10 tries before it was perfect. Even 1 little bubble of air makes the pedal soft and unusable.
This week she's getting a bunch of other work done. The carb is getting upgraded to a Holly 650 double pumper, the clutch is shot from sitting, so new clutch and throw out bearing are also on the list.
While it is a very cool almost all original ride.. since the side pipes were put on.. and some other performance upgrades.. I do not consider it a show car or a valuable collectors piece.. It's just my black corvette that I drive like a race car wherever I can get away with it.
