Ok, so not as bad as it sounds, right? Exactly. We have this trend where older generations always want to pretend younger generations are vapid. Is cultural narcissism a HUGE problem in the US? Absolutely. But generation after generation has shied away from new technology and blamed it for the problems in the world.
Books, TV, Movies, Phones, if kids want to enjoy new things, you'll find a headline as to why that thing is terrible. ANYTHING is terrible if not used correctly. EVERY job is awful if you don't like the work you're doing, or can't compartmentalize it.
A kid wants to be a vlogger? Great! Teach them how long it takes to edit. Teach them how to deal with inevitable negative comments. Teach them to do the work. Vlogging is cool because it looks fun. Movies are cool because you get lost in the storytelling. Books are cool because you get lost in the storytelling.
Teens wanting to be vloggers isn't a problem. How we approach their desire is.
