In 2017, the world was fascinated by the seemingly endless pregnancy of April the giraffe. Seriously, it felt like she was in labor for months, and I was admittedly way more invested in that live stream than any productive adult should be. Unfortunately, the famous giraffe has now gone to the savannah in the sky. April was reportedly suffering from arthritis and was euthanized at the recommendation. According to the zoo:
At the celebrated age of 20 years old, April was in her golden years, with the captive management life expectancy averaging 20-25 years, far greater than the average lifespan of 10-15 years in the wild.
