6 Dr. Seuss Books Will No Longer Be Published Due To Racist Imagery

Dr. Seuss Enterprises, the company that manages the late author's titles, will no longer be publishing six of his books because of imagery that is considered racist and insensitive. After consulting with educators and literary experts, the company released a statement saying “books portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong” and that stopping sales is part of its broader plan to “ensure Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ catalog represents and supports all communities and families.”

The book titles to be discontinued are “McElligot’s Pool,” “On Beyond Zebra!,” “Scrambled Eggs Super!,” “The Cat’s Quizzer,” “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,” and “If I Ran the Zoo.” Like many people, I too grew up reading Dr. Seuss books and when I graduated from Georgia State University, my dad bought me "Oh the Places You'll Go!"
