Classic Chicago Breakfast Eatery Shut Down

Ok, real talk.

NOBODY likes to eat out for breakfast MORE than I DO! I know you think you do, but before social media, I was that guy spreading the word about the old Salt and Pepper Diner(s). Sucks so hard they're both gone and that I still can't find a spot with classic thin buttermilk pancakes and servers nearly as good S&P used to always deliver.

That's one reason why I'm upset to hear that the city's classic White Palace Grill got shut down a couple of days ago, and has not yet gotten the okay from the city to re-open! YES they serve more than just breakfast and YED I was not a regular, but they always did me, my friends, and visitors good when we tripped to the south loop. Something about code violations- DAYUM important- is still keeping the diner with years of memories waiting to fire up that grill.

This story is not only upsetting but has allowed me to post some awesome breakfast food pics. Remember, I LOVE "BREAKFAST OUT" so if you've got a spot within 25 miles of the loop, get at me about it on Twitter.

And enjoy this ode to French Toast below, when you have a couple spare minutes.
