1967 - Deion Sanders is born. He turns 54 today.
1969 - Sharon Tate and four others were found murdered in the home Tate shared with her husband, Roman Polanski. Charles Manson and his followers were later convicted of the murders.
1995, Grateful Dead lead singer Jerry Garcia died of a heart attack while undergoing drug rehabilitation in San Francisco. He was only 53. A month earlier on July 9th at Soldier Field was his final concert.
