Klinger's Songwriting Guild Is Open For Business

You and I are going to write a rock song. That is why I've created Klinger's Songwriters Guild.

This is a song we need to make b/c we’ve all had different experiences over the past year and all have a vested interest in making Chicagoland kick ass like it’s never kicked ass before. It's been way too long since we’ve gotten to see live music, sit on a patio with friends and get our drink on or to just experience life!!

A Rock 95.5 listener will contribute a new lyric each day. Over the next few weeks we will have created a song with lyrics that are a reflection of all of us.

Today was the first day and the beginning lyrics of our song. Mike Struif from Roselle has kicked off the song with these lyrics: "Speeding down the road again."

Day two and lyrics were provided by Postal Eric while on the job at USPS: "Her image dances through my memory like a warm summer breeze."

Johnny was just waiting in the carpool line in Batavia and just broke out the next lyrics! "She's bringin' my underwear down to my knees."

Our song is starting to take shape! Brianna is now a part of Klinger's Song Writers Guild and came up with these lyrics "No more quarantine, it's just you and me."

Friday gave us some super local and uplifting lyrics! "Malort, Malort, drink the Malort."

His name is Johnny and he lives here in Logan Square and is now a part of Klinger's Song Writers Guild! "Everything you had was new. I never want to take anything broken from you."

Sandy said she was floating on Lake Zurich and came up with the lyrics "Let's go floating on the lake."

Geoff in Winfield has just provided us with our new lyrics today based on what he tells his wife? Dude, sounds like you are a regular on the couch!! "I am the product of what you created."

Just got a great call from Harry on a rainy Thursday with some lyrics for our song! "Drinks on the patio are always sweeter when someone else is buying."

Eric in Crown Point crushing it on a Friday with his lyrics: "The many masks that we wear hiding true identities here and there like living in a pandemic."

John Wetzel is here in Chicago and just offered up his lyrics for our song! "I had to fall. I had to crawl. I had to hit rock bottom, to top them all."

When Russell was a kid his mom had a saying that he's always remembered: "I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I don’t believe that what you heard is what I meant."

Steve is listening in Elmwood Park and wants the sfx of bong rips in our song! Done!!

Margo is clearly a songwriter that has just added these lyrics on a Monday: “Words have so much meaning while running thru my head, but once spoken out loud they fall down flat and dead."

Bob for the win? "Let go of my ears I know what I'm doin."

Steve was listening to Rock 95.5 in Mundelein and contributed these lyrics: "Thine eyes drip pool of red"

Just got of the phone with Rob Ruiz from Logan Square and he reeled off this possible chorus for our song! Thoughts?

"It's my time, my time has come, I'm $35k short for an alibi so I'm on the run"

Speeding down the road again

Her image dances through my memory like a warm summer breeze

She's bringin' my underwear down to my knees

No more quarantine, it's just you and me

Malort. Malort. Drink the Malort!

Everything you had was new. I never want to take anything broken from you

Let's go floating on the lake

I am the product of what you have created

Drinks on the patio are always sweeter when someone else is buying

The many masks that we wear hiding true identities here and there like living in a pandemic

I had to fall. I had to crawl. I had to hit rock bottom, to top them all

I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I don’t believe that what you heard is what I meant

Words have so much meaning while running thru my head, but once spoken out loud they fall down flat and dead

Thine eyes drip pools of red

Let go of my ears I know what I'm doin

SFX: Bong rips, lots of bong rips

Possible chorus:

"It's my time, my time has come, I'm $35k short for an alibi so I'm on the run"

Brianna Wilson sent me an email the other night and summarized the lyrics that you all have written thus far. Great job putting lyrics into possible verses and choruses. I welcome additional feedback and appreciate all of the creativity! Klinger

-Verse-

Her image dances through my memory like a warm summer breeze

She's bringin' my underwear down to my knees

Let's go floating on the lake

No more quarantine, it's just you and me

-Verse-

Speeding down the road again

Let go of my ears I know what I'm doin'

Drinks on the patio are always sweeter when someone else is buying

Malort, Malort, drink the Malort

-Pre-Chorus-

Everything you had was new. I never want to take anything broken from you

-Chorus-

It's my time, my time has come, I'm $35k short for an alibi so I'm on the run

I had to fall. I had to crawl. I had to hit rock bottom, to top them all

-Bridge/Build Up Before Breakdown-

I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I don’t believe that what you heard is what I meant

Words have so much meaning while running thru my head, but once spoken out loud they fall down flat and dead

I am the product of what you created

Thine eyes drip pools of red

The many masks that we wear hiding true identities here and there like living in a pandemic

-SFX of many bong rips during breakdown-

Cheers,

-BriannaWilson

Eddie could have lyrics that make this badass song! He emailed me and listens from Crown Point. "The time has come to gather, Beer in the left hand, rock horns and a smile in the other"

What comes next? Give me a buzz tomorrow at 3:55pm or send me an email with your lyrics klinger@iheartradio.com.
