1911 - On this day in Chicago history, Chicago came up with a unified system, in which State Street was one baseline, Madison Street was the other, and all address numbers were based on the distance from one of the baselines.

1947 - Bulls all-star and broadcaster Norm Van Lier is born. Every Chicago sports fan had a drink with Norm at some point when he was alive. 

1985 - David Lee Roth quit Van Halen shortly after releasing his version of The Beach Boys 'California Girls', (which featured Carl Wilson on background vocals). He was replaced by Sammy Hagar later in the year.
