- 1981 - On this day in Chicago history, The violence was continuing at the Cabrini-Green housing project, with eleven people killed and thirty-seven injured so far this year. So this evening, Mayor Jane Byrne and her husband moved into a fourth-floor apartment in one of the high-rises.
