Angi Taylor Show Recap with Jay the Gay - 2-19-2021

This is a small taste of the show overall, the bits and bobs that I found interesting and funny, insightful and relevant. To hear everything that happened, check out the podcast version of the show. If you want a quick read along with random self inserts and my personal thoughts, you've come to the right place.

Call in Points:

(This is the broadstroke canvas on which I base my call, obviously these notes are going to be longer and more detailed.)

Well, it's here and we finally made it. That's right, it's the best day of the week because it is Chainsaw Friday! This week's chainsaw was actually given out on the show this morning but honestly, I think we need to change it up just a bit. Forget chainsaws, let's do something new next week. Rock 95.5 is in dire need of Flamethrower Friday, something that would be perfect to help us get rid of all this awful snow. Now that is something I'd climb over a pile of others to get my hands on and win.

Let us begin with Angi, as we do each and every day. She is a saint in this world, doing selfless things for everyone and never expecting anything in return. This was no more apparent than the revelation that came today. As we were told yesterday, Abe finally closed on a condo after trying and failing twice. To celebrate, Angi decided to make herself responsible for the greatest dumps Abe will ever take at his new place. That's right, Angi decided to buy Abe a toilet for his new place. This is not just any toilet btw, this is a crazy $1,000 toilet. It has everything, a bidet, a dryer, a remote, lights, cameras, a built in fish tank, a biometric scanner to indicate if Abe has died on the toilet. After seeing it on Abe's wishlist, Angi and Jay the Straight felt that Abe truly deserved this crazy toilet. Therefore, going forward, the toilet (which is situated in the Rock 95.5 wing of Abe's condo) shall forever be known as The Angi Taylor Toilet. For Abe, this is exactly what he wants and needs, he likes to be in luxury while he takes his dumps. Ironically, Angi and Jay the Straight kind of feel the same and are now interested in maybe getting one of their own.

In the first of the two daily interactive questions, Angi posed one after hearing a story about Jennifer Love Hugetits. It seems that Jennifer Love Hugetits had one incredible night out partying with Betty White. The pair got drunk and ended their evening eating gummy bears. She made a point of showcasing that Betty loves pizza, vodka, hot dogs and Scramble. So Angi posed the question of partying and who you would like to do it with. This is one of those things that involves going to the bar and shutting it down. Of course all this would happen after covid because as much as you've heard or assumed, covid is still ongoing. For Abe, his person is, wait for it, Matthew McCoughnhey (what were you expecting Drew McIntyre, because I was.) Angi thought the same thing as well because she said she wanted to hear who he wanted to hang with and not who he wanted to bang. Angi unfortunately, didn't have a proper list because every person she wants to hang with is sober now. If it was the past, it would have been Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and Chrissy Teigen. Abe was absolutely appalled by the Teigen pick because he didn't get it. Angi went on to explain that she "was" a fun drunk and then would make her food afterward. Roadie Peter called in and said David Gilmour because he set a standard in music and his creativity is through the ceiling. Zack wanted to hang with Robin Williams because all that manic energy seems fun. Angi and Abe threw in one more pick for themselves before closing out with Angi picking Scott Weiland and Abe went with Ric Flair. As for me, it would be Jon Moxley if only because I would love to hear him tell wrasslin' stories while we drink Jack and I stare at him lovingly and call him "daddy." I also offered up Zane Lowe (a legendary radio interviewer) in a text to Angi and Abe but they had no idea who he was so I went with my alternate choice.

Finally, Angi brought forth another question that was built on something a celebrity said. Demi Lovato, good singer who fell into an absolute mess of drugs and OD'ed. She was roughly five minutes from dying and so her living brought out the question. Have you ever had a near death experience, like either close to dying or actually dying and coming back? Angi telled her story of how she almost died when giving birth to her daughter, along with her daughter. The kid almost drowned and so Angi had to have an emergency C section. She was a bloodied mess as well and had to have a ton of blood to keep her together. As for Abe, he was almost crushed in a pool by a fat guy and drowned as well. Angi sought the listeners' experience, what was it that almost took them out of this world. Roadie Marissa got stuck in an old carnival ride and due to the trauma, refuses to go on them now. Abe explained his own ride trauma when hearing this, having a bar break off the Iron Wolf at Great America and also getting CTE from the Shockwave there. Randy was stuck inside of a hide a bed and almost suffocated, saved only by his sister. Alex was swallowed as well, only his was by Lake Michigan when he slipped between two rocks on Montrose Pier and was getting buried by waves. He was saved by a homeless man who happened to be in the bushes nearby relieving himself. Sully called in to say he took 1/5 of rum and 30 Norco's, which led to his actual death on an operating table but he was revived by doctors. Rob had a massive tree branch break off and fall onto his car. Mike had a part of a plow break off and roll toward him, almost crushing him. I myself called in to tell a story from high school, when while in a rush, I was 3 inches from being run over by a CTA bus. The last call on the topic was Jesse, who had died on three different occasions and said not only did he see light but also his dead father, mother and brother who were attempting to push him away from said light.

So, it turns out that being trapped in the house during a pandemic is taking a toll on people (shocking absolutely no one.) American's are really missing ordinary conversations, like work chatter and talking in hallways. Angi sought to alleviate this by having listeners call in to just have a regular conversation. Big Rig Rick called in to discuss the time he got a mouth hug at a Juggalo concert because I'm assuming that's what you would do at a thing like that. Who's honestly going there for the music, yuck. Roadie Joel called in to basically let Angi know he is a listener and a lover of the show. John called in to discuss what an absolute mess taking his son to a Marilyn Manson concert was. During all this, poor Angi was having trouble reading the screen because she's blind and needs glasses (welcome to my hell.) Abe decided to rub it in that he got free lasik from one of his old stations, a nice parting gift since he got fired from there a week later.

It's the return of Drunk Ninja News! This one involved yet another woman (being a drunk mess is an equal opportunity gig,) who was drunk, naked and angry. I know what you're thinking and no, I'm not about to do a story about Angi so calm down. This silly bitch ran up a $154 dollar bill at a bar and when presenting her credit card, had it declined. This did not go over well and she went absolutely nuts. She yelled, she spit at and on people and she ran out of the bar without paying. Drunko made her way to a clothing store where she proceeded to get naked, put on new clothes from the store and run off with those without paying. The cops eventually ended up finding her at another bar. She was charged with theft, indecent exposure and disorderly conduct. Again, in case you skimmed this and saw drunk naked and angry only, I was not talking about Angi.

Last, as a lead in to a new Rock 95.5 feature, Abe told a great story about when he worked at The Loop (the legendary shuttered Chicago rock station.) Abe found himself in a situation where he was able to interview Joe Elliott from Def Leppard by faking like he was supposed to interview him. After being pulled out of the tour bus, the nicest man in the world appeared with his iPad in hand, as he had been playing chess. He ordered pizza, apologized for not having Abe on the interview list and gave Abe the interview he was never scheduled for. This led into the station's new promotion, The Rock 95.5 Beater Car Club. That's right, the station is looking for those who own beater cars, they want your pictures for their internet club. When covid eventually ends, they will be doing things with and for members of this club, including but not limited to a beater car show. You want in on this, hop on the Rock 95.5 website for more details.
