It's a holiday week, which normally means I'd be drunk from now til next week but covid has killed all that fun so here's some sober notes (for now.)
So, let's just start these notes with what we all know was coming. Did you bet away the money you set aside for Thanksgiving Dinner? Should grandma be expecting a visit from Tom Selleck with a crowbar in hand? If you answered yes to these questions then you know where this is going. This week's Best Bet of the Week was just the Worst ... see what I did there. That's right, Abe once again failed to live up to our wildest expectations and instead things went south again. The thing you need to keep in mind though is that this mess was not Abe's fault. It was totally a solid pick and once again, an outside force mushed him. That's right, this week's proverbial scapegoat is none other than resident show husband Jay the Straight, who was tossed to the lions as morning sacrifice for his role in texting Abe during the game, cursing it after he did. Abe was pressed by Angi to point out that Jay the Straight was indeed the mush but he would not confirm it, even though he basically spent the entire duration of sports blaming him. So, who was at fault?Abe finally explained that the real culprit in this mess was the Packers fumbling so much. Sure Abe, we both believe that.
So, a pile of people were polled asking a very obvious question. What is the one thing they miss most because of covid hell. Abe went on to say he misses concerts, events and just being able to leave the house. In a weird turn, where Abe actually showed empathy, he went on to discuss it further. A lot of people aren't working and if they are, they're stuck at home with family or kids. (Writer's note, Angi might have actually said that, I don't remember offhand but it sounds like something she would say.) So, this question brought today's variation of Top 10 list.
The 10 Things People Miss the Most Due to Covid/Lockdowns:
10. Bars (if Snapchat is to be believed, I don't think they're looking hard enough.)
9. Concerts
8. Spending Time with Family
7. Vacation
6. Having a Real Day Out
5. Movie Theaters
4. Shopping Malls (Is it the 90's still?)
3. Time with Friends
2. Browsing through Stores
1. Eating at Restaurants without Stress
My add on to this list is parties. I had elaborate parties planned for my 40th birthday and my roommates 35th but of course, they are postponed until pending or you know, like 10 years from now.
Finally, in today's edition of Anonymous Confessions, "Macho Man Randy Savage" called in to confess that he's planning on getting engaged this weekend. He's been dating his soon to be fiance for 3 months but they've known each other for much longer so there's no need to fear for this failing. As to how he'd do it, he said he might body slam her in the living room and then put her in a choke hold, asking her while she's gasping for air obviously. For his confession, he got a congratulatory ham and Abe and Angi are invited to the wedding. Two quick points from me. 1) Good luck good sir and congrats. 2) Go listen to the podcast and tell me that guy didn't sound like John Goodman and not Macho Man, the resemblance was uncanny.

So, a wholesome moment led to a fun exchange this morning between Angi and Abe. Angi was watchingCBS Sunday Morning, as one does when you can't leave the house and there's nothing else to do. The segment was about food, mainly soup, which inspired her. She made stuffed pepper soup for dinner because again, what else is there to do in lockdown. Jay the Straight was also having an amazing day because he was settled in for football all day and wrestling at night. Abe, on the other hand, spent his morning ordering from Whole Foods using Amazon Fresh. Unimpressed by all the actual food he ordered, Abe ended up buying a ton of fast food, including much needed show sponsor Jimmy Johns (the way Abe throws money at them is like how I throw money at Amazon.) This turned to wrestling talk and how beloved show celebrity Reba McIntyre lost atSurvivor Seriesyesterday. Of course, Abe had to mention that he is followed by Reba McIntyre on Twitter but Angi isn't (as if she cares.) They also discussed the Undertaker's farewell, the Paul Bearer hologram and then Angi proceeded to confuse Paul Bearer for the Wyatt Family. As she went on to say "my wrestling knowledge is unmatched."
So, what do you consider the sexiest accent in the world. It used to be French (surprising to me honestly,) but lost the crown this year to the Brits. That's right, British accents are so so sexy. As usual, Abe took this as a hint to start singing Veruca Salt's part from Willy Wonka because of course he did. French did end up in second place though so that's something. Finishing up the list would be Italian in third, Spanish in fourth and finally Irish in fifth. Abe gave his interpretations of each accent, each getting worse then the last and he threw in Australian as well. What Angi noticed almost instantly was just how many of these were based on things Abe saw in movies (not shocked.) Abe, if it counts for anything, was disappointed that Alabama wasn't picked on the overall list.
Lastly, do you own a small business or manage one, then this is for you. We are looking for Head Roadies of small businesses. Not one to reign them all but ones for each type of category (restaurant, stores, etc.) We are looking to help promote those who are struggling during these trying times and small businesses in general should always be promoted as they are the thriving life blood of many communities. So, do you listen, do you promote the show to friends and others. Do you play the station in your place of business? Call in and let us know.
