Two Injured as Wood Ledger Falls From Ceiling at Radius Chicago

Two injured while attending a concert at Radius Chicago. The ambulance was called around 1:20am on Saturday when a wood ledger fell from the ceiling and landed on two attendees.

One was a 26-year-old woman who ended up with a laceration on the back of her head. The other was a 29-year-old man who was afflicted by neck and shoulder pain. Thankfully, both were taken to Stroger Hospital and are in good condition.

The incident caused that night's band, Levity, to cut their show short. A structural engineer was brought onto the scene Saturday. The building was determined to be sound and Radius' shows went as scheduled Saturday night.

Radius Chicago posted an official message:

"We want to address the events that took place during last night's show at Radius. First, during the event, a non-structural wood ledger that was attached to the steel frame fell from the ceiling and struck a few attendees. Two individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment. We are heartbroken and our thoughts are with them as we wish them a speedy recovery. We take this incident extremely seriously and have been in contact with city officials. We've engaged a structural engineer who determined there are no additional safety concerns at this time. The safety and well-being of our guests ins always our tip priority, and as such we are implementing additional recommended precautionary measures for tonight's event."
