Could you imagine for a moment if we hadn't laughed at such greats like Bill Murray, Chris Farley, John Belushi, Tina Fey, Tim Meadows, Dan Aykroyd, Jane Lynch, Bob Odenkirk... the list goes on and on. They all spent time honing their craft at Chicago's famed comedy club The Second City.
I'm sure we're all aware of the struggle music venues are having during the COVID-19 pandemic. Well, the same thing goes for Chicago's top notch comedy clubs.
On Tuesday, owner and former CEO Andrew Alexander announced the theater might be on the path to change hands for only the second time in 60 years!
In a press release, Alexander stated “watching the talent development process has given me more joy than one person should be allowed, but it is time for a new generation with fresh ideas to take the company to the next level.”
It still looks like it'll be a while until theaters in the city can host audiences again, we just have to hope that these institutions can find a way to stay afloat so they're around on the other side of the pandemic.
